three reasons not to read LIVE SENT

Considering reading the New Hope Publisher’s release of LIVE SENT: you are a letter? Just to warn you, here are three reasons you may not want to read that book:

1 _ because you may be really comfortable just “going to church.” If that’s you, and you are okay with connecting the preposition “to” with the word “church” even though the New Testament never does, then you may not want to read the book. The message of “live sent” might disturb you, too much, like it did me. But if it does, then the message of Jesus might disturb you, too. Which may be a good thing. Especially if you are really comfortable just “going to church.”

2 _ because the words are small and if you can’t see well it might hurt your eyes. And neither New Hope Publishers or Jason C Dukes can be held responsible for the nagging pain that far-sightedness can cause if you read the book, especially if you have the courage to read it in low light.

3 _ because you might actually have to make disciples who make disciples who make disciples, which can get messy and may take up some of the time currently blocked off for participation in “church” programs and activities. If you even use the word “discipleship,” you may not want to read the book. Especially if you view “discipleship” as how to make Christians smarter. The way that the book suggests we think of “discipling” may disturb you. But then, if it does, then the message of Jesus with regard to “discipling” might disturb you, too. Which may be a good thing. Especially if you are not currently making disciples who make disciples who make disciples, etc.

So, there you go. Three reasons why not to read LIVE SENT: you are a letter.

Oh yeah. One more – paper cuts. You could get a bad paper cut, especially on page 127. So be careful if you do read it. Or just get the digital version. You can’t get a paper cut that way.

Seriously – I sincerely pray that the message of “LIVE SENT: you are a letter” will disturb you the way it has disturbed me, my family, and our church family. And I fervently pray that we will learn and live the ways of Jesus together and then go do that with both the lost and the found in our everyday lives. Then, we will be LIVING SENT!

Much love.
